A year later since I posted my first Paragon review: I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it! I have felt stronger, fitter and happier! What’s more important, Paragon has helped me enormously to go through life hardships in a more focused and objective way! Besides the best in physical exercise and training, great things happen there like teamwork, group challenge, camaraderie, trust, friendship and lots of funand jokes!

I was slightly overweight, lacked energy and my overall health was below where I wanted it to be due to lack of exercise because of a long term knee injury/op.
I wanted to lose some weight, get a better body shape and have more energy without causing any further damage to an existing knee injury.The sessions have been perfect for me, a great mix of exercise using all parts of the body as well as a focus on improving my cardio levels, the environment lends itself to friendly competitiveness and the trainers encourage rather ‘beat us into submission’ and my knee actually feels stronger, best it’s been pre-op.
Since joining 2 months ago my energylevels have increased & I have lost weight without having to go on any extreme diets!! The program has been great for me and has more than met myinitial expectations.

In June 2014 I was planning to reduce my working hours and decided I needed something to motivate me having been sobusy working ridiculous hours 7 days a week for years. I had tried going to a gym but did not enjoy the isolation of just working out on a machine. I also tried Tai Chi but the progress was too slow and boring. I already knew Robbie and I got in touch with him as I heard he had his own gym in the town. Hesuggested I came along for a trial to see if it suited me and it sure did!
I did not really need to lose weight just improve my fitness having spent so much of my life sitting in front of a computer or standing in front of a class full of pupils. The Platinum Program is fantastic as it motivates me, gives me confidence, increases my energy levels, makes me feel younger, I am certainly fitter and look forward to every session. The exercises are always varied and challenging and enjoyable (apart from the prowler!). The instructors are amazing always thinking up new exercises and circuits. I was coached through an easy to follow nutrition plan, given recipe books and now I eat good nourishing healthy food which I enjoy preparing and eating.
All in all joining the Platinum Program is one of the best things I have ever done, not only do I feel so much better but I have made the most amazing friends too. Thank you Robbie for your encouragement and support and Charlotte of course who doesn’t let me slack at all! - Julie Windley
Before I started the Platinum Program I was a member of one of the high street gyms. At the beginning I was really happy but last year started to miss classes more and more often, became very bored with them. So, I decided I need some changes. Did some research and Paragon was the most attractive to me! I started with two week trial and after the very first session I knew I would join the Platinum Program.
3 months later I’m still very, very happy! The sessions are never boring, intensive (which I like) and 6am is just perfect for me! I can do my training before the job! Robbie is very lovely, kind and encouraging. He made me feel very comfortable as soon as I came to Paragon. And I met a group of very nice people too!
As for results, I didn’t wait long for them! Three weeks after the start of the Program I noticed my coat is a bit looser then it was before (I managed to change it a size smaller!), very tight jeans are not so tight any more! I knew that I needed to start thinking about getting fit so I joined a local“standard” gym but I quickly became de-motivated so I gave the Platinum Programa try. I initially joined to help me to de-stress as I have a pretty stressful job – and if I lost weight then that would be a bonus. Thankfully both happened!

I was at the stage in my life where I wanted to start to look after myself (both internally and externally).I love it! The people are great and no two classes are the same. The little extras that you get from being a platinum member are great too (like Core and Boot camp).
I have lost over a stone and a half in weight and it has really helped my confidence. I feel lost if I miss a class now! It’s a great atmosphere in there and the classes are so varied, I have never stuck to a gym for this long (it’s been over 18 months now), and I would be devastated if for some reason I wasn’t able to go any more. “Before I started the Platinum Program, mymembership at a local gym had lapsed and the ear infections from the swimmingpool discouraged me from going back. But I needed to get fighting-fit formy Mayoral Charity boxing event so I started the Platinum Program with Robbie Linsell at Paragon Fitness Studio.
I had only considered swimming as afitness option before because my track record with other sports at school,except for batting, was dismal. But sometimes you do not have to have itall figured out to move forward so I started at Paragon.

I would like to share with everyone why I decided to join Paragon Fitness. For quite sometime I had been feeling sluggish, no energy and very unfit and approaching that big 50 I knew it wouldn’t get any easier.
I had tried various Gym memberships but theynever worked. There was never any support and always feltuncomfortable in large Gyms so gave up really before I had begun.
I was told about Robbie from a friend andthe Platinum Programme, she explained about the support andconfidence his classes gave you. Yes I was optimistichowever decided to go on the 2 week free trial to “give ita go”.
On my first visit not only did Robbie make mefeel welcome he didn’t make me feel like I stood out in the crowd so tosay plus the other people on the course were there for their ownreasons and no one judged each other which was straight away a positive in mybook!!
I immediately joined after my free 2 weeks andreally enjoyed the classes. The classes gave a total workout and I startedto feel like things were changing. Not only did I get the exercise but withalso went on the Detox which was for 3 weeks. I’m not going to say it was easybut after week 2 OMG I had so much more energy and felt a lot more confident in myself. 3 months on I have toned up and feel and have somuch more energy.

“When I first met my wife 12 years ago, I was bang on 12st. trim and I thought reasonably fit, I was going the gym in London, which I had done for years but in reality I was just going through the motions and it got so boring doing the same old routines that I got de-motivated and packed it all in about 4 years ago. My weight had ballooned up to 15st 10lb and if I was late for the train I couldn’t run more than a hundred yards without panting hard; something had to change. I had wanted to do something different to get fit for a couple of years but didn’t know what I wanted, then I spotted Paragon Boxercise sessions whilst surfing the net and immediately thought this is something I want to try, it’s different, it’s local and sounded fun too.
At first I was a bit apprehensive, will it be too much for me? What if it’s too Cliquey? Will the Trainer care about me? Will I fit in?
Well I can tell you from the very first session, all those negative questions quickly dissolved, I am not going to lie it was tough after doing nothing for a few years; it certainly was not cliquey at all, easy to pair up with a partner, everyone was welcoming and encouraging during and after the session had ended, it put my mind right at ease. Best of all Robbie’s style was not like a drill sergeant he had the knack of making it fun whilst I was having the most efficient workout I had in years, he seemed to assess you in a non-intrusive manner, so you didn’t feel like the newbie. The day after I was buzzing, I couldn’t wait to go again and after the two-week taster I could already feel some difference mainly in my confidence and was convinced my belt was a bit looser. I can honestly say I enjoyed it so much that after a couple months my wife wanted to see what the fuss was all about and now she’s a regular too, in fact when we miss a session we both feel disappointed. We have also enrolled our young girls into the kids session; it’s a real family affair.
Since doing the Boxercise I had shed a few pounds and toned up slightly, and my stamina improved. In May I joined the Platinum programme, and took notice of Robbie’s advice on nutrition and healthy eating and lifestyle plan ( I admit in lapsing a few times BBQ’s and red wine are mydownfall) along with the 1-2-1 sessions I have seen a real benefit, I watch what I eat, more aware of what and how much I put on my plate and what I drink, but the funny thing is you don’t do it because you have to, I seem to bedoing this because I WANT to. I feel fitter stronger and motivated, I am beginning to see visual results, my last weigh-in was 15st I dropped 10lbs and trouser size and I am only halfway through the programme, I have 6 weeks until my family holiday and I am confident with the help and motivation of the 1-2-1 team and my session buddies I can lose another 10lb. “Before I started on the Platinum Programme I was a member of Grange Paddocks gym, where I went to circuit classes twice a weekand I did some PT sessions in the gym once a week. I also ran twice aweek.
The classes were very good to start with, but then over time with instructor changes and the classes being so busy, it went down hill. Also some of the exercises that they made you do were just so hard it was impossible to carry them out and so were of no real benefit. The PT sessions varied with instructor, they all seemed very young and were more interested in looking at themselves in the mirror!!
So I was exercising but not gaining anything,just ticking over.
The only objection I had to joining Paragon, (well my husband had) was the cost, compared to what I paid at Grange Paddocks it was quite expensive, but as it has come to show ‘you get what you pay for’.
Paragon has been really good for me, I have finally (after many many years) got to the right place mentally with myeating habits, thanks to Robbie and his eating plans (well the easy one). As I said it has taken me a long time but it has finally sunk in ‘you can’t out train/run a bad diet’.
Paragon is also a great place to train, the sessions are always interesting and varied, hard but not ridiculously difficult and although I whinge and moan (and sometimes curse under my breath which helps me persevere) I really enjoy coming to the sessions; well you would have to, getting up at 5.30am 3 mornings a week! Also everyone is really friendly and supportive, it is a great atmosphere.

“Before starting the Platinum Program I had become unfit and although I had previously enjoyed running I felt unmotivated to start again by myself. I was looking for a challenge that I could really commit to. Something structured to follow. My goal was to get fit for Summer.
I had no objections to starting at Paragon. I had read many success stories on the website and believed in the workout & nutrition method. Although the initial cost was quite high, when I worked out what that equated to per session it seemed quite reasonable.
My first 2 months have been brilliant and I look forward to going, even the 6am sessions. The HIIT is exactly what I was looking for. No long boring cardio sessions or repetitive weight routines.
By following the plan I have achieved a weight loss of over 14lbs (1 stone, all coming from fat) dropped 10cm off my waist and 17 years off of my metabolic age. This has given me more confidence and the drive to keep improving on my fitness.

“I hadn’t done any proper exercise since my son (now 5) was born mainly due to nothing really fitting in around work and family. I was struggling with my weight and generally felt unfit and achy.
I was concerned that I was too unfit to start and also that, as a night owl, 6am was very early.
It only took a couple of sessions to feel like I was part of the gang and I can’t believe I’m still training at 6am 3 times a week almost a year later. It’s the only exercise I’ve stuck at and I can honestly say I enjoy the sessions. I also ache much less, feel fitter and generally less stressed. I’ve also given up diet coke and white bread, which are two more things I’d never believed I would. 6am fits in really well round family and work too.

“Prior to starting the Platinum Program, I had spent pretty much my entire adult life on one diet or another (Weight Watchers, Slimming World, Rosemary Conley, the Atkins, Dukan – you name it, I’ve tried it!) – I would lose a stone in a few months, then stop going for a year, during which time the weight would gradually creep back on again and I’d start another one. Throughout that whole time though, my exercise regime had always been (I thought) pretty good – boxercise, cycling, gym workouts, occasional running – but whilst I thought I was being good and doing plenty, none of it really changed my body-shape in any real way and I was always exhausted and spent most of the time feeling miserable cos I was always battling with what I should and shouldn’t eat. I didn’t have any objections about working with Robbie – I’d known him for a few years through boxercise classes and had always really enjoyed them and his style of working. I liked his tough attitude to us all in class and then when I heard about the work he had started doing with groups of people on nutrition and exercise I really wanted to be a part of it – I didn’t want to miss out. Working with Robbie on this program is great. I really feel that he cares about us all and cares about what we are getting out of this. He wants us to succeed.
He is motivational and very supportive and always on the end of a phone/email to answer a question or just to listen and give us a bit of a hand (or a kick) when needed. The interval training is new to me but I love it – I love the fact that it is different every session. It is clear that he has always prepared every session in advance and have thought about what to do to make it different from the last one. I also like the fact that he was clear up front about not being interested in negative people, people who didn’t want to give it their all – that’s been a real plus point, as the group of people we have got are all great – all motivated, all supportive and it feels like a little family. I would recommend this to anyone and definitely want to carry on working with Robbie on the Platinum Programme.
The best result for me without a doubt is the change I can feel in my body – much leaner and tighter. I’ve still got a way to go before it’s how I would like, but I really feel, for the first time, that this is a regime that works and, even more importantly, I’m finally not “on a diet” !! I found the detox a challenge initially, but only as I got used to having to be more organised and think about what food to take into work etc – no more nipping over to M&S for a sandwich at lunchtime!! And now I absolutely love the food – I feel healthier – I feel that everything I put inside me is clean and good – it’s got to the point now where if I eat rubbish, my body gets rid of it pretty sharpish and tells me not to eat it again!! “I was feeling very tired and sluggish and carrying an extra stone or two before I came to Paragon 6 months ago. I really wanted to get fit and lose some weight but could never stick at anything that I’d tried before.

The platinum programme helped me to take control of my fitness, eating and weight loss goals again. It gave me the tools and support to turn around weight gain and put me on track to become a super happy new person! After 6 weeks I began to feel amazing, empowered and healthy again… combined with a rediscovered passion for exercise, a new ability to read my body and how it responds to different foods and some satisfying LBs and inches lost ! In the 3 months I’ve been doing the programme I have lost weight, my fat percentage has decreased and my muscle weight has increased. The support given with the programme is amazing, Rob is there whenever you need, and can answer even the trickiest questions, always giving solid, usable advise. The emails/fB updates that come regularly keep you honest, and really help you stick to the programme. His weigh-ins I find really helpful, and it was great to see results.
The work outs are great, I love the selection, the ease and being able to do them wherever and whenever you want and learning that weight training is as important as the rest.
Rob’s nutrition advice is epic. I have gone from eating pasta, bread, sugar and processed food to having more protein, white meat and fish, processed foods are cut out completely from my diet and refined sugar out the door…I feel so much better, and on the odd occasion when I do end up eating some of these things (and everyone knows I have), my body responds with a resounding “you’re making me feel sick”.
I couldn’t do it without the knowledge and support Rob has given me, the programme totally reforms the way you think and feel about food, to me now it’s about fueling my body so that it performs at its best, and I feel better physically, emotionally (less downs, more ups) and mentally in control.

“I first met Robbie when he was working at another gym around 2009. When I packed up playing football I joined the gym to keep fit and try to keep my weight down as I really enjoy my food. They were doing some renovation at the gym and the dust was affecting me as I suffer from seasonal asthma in the Summer. Rob suggested that I try his boxercise class as they were using the hall at the back which was unaffected by the renovation. I really enjoyed the boxercise, so much that I stopped working out alone and only attended the classes, as Rob was doing 5 a week, which gave me a lot of flexibility to train, as I’m a shift worker. I, always knew that if Rob was to move on, I (along with a lot of other people who attended his classes there) would follow him out of the door . When he started Paragon in January 2013, I had no objections at all about going there and I cancelled my old gym membership straight away. As I said I really enjoy Rob’s classes and I enjoy working with a group. The classes are structured, varied and well organised and as I’ve been doing them for so long I’m very familiar with all the drills and routines and don’t have to think too much when following instructions. “Before I met Robbie I led an active lifestyle, worked out regularly, walked at least 8 miles a day most days, swam and ate a good diet. Pre Paragon I had some 121 personal training after my first child with a fantastic trainer who taught me so much and got me into great shape. I exercised throughout my second pregnancy, applied and rotated the same workouts after my second child was born which had been so effective the first time but couldn’t get rid of those last inches. We had two weddings looming in the coming month I needed some help to get me to my desired body-shape.
My husband Mike who is also a Paragon Member and is currently on the Platinum Program, got me in touch with Robbie, Mike had also had 121 Personal Training in the past with Robbie, whom he rated highly as a trainer. Personal Training I wasn’t afraid of, but group exercise was another matter, I always worried that I’d feel or look silly exercising in a group of others having tried scary group classes at a gym in the past, I also thought that despite thinking I was quite fit that I wouldn’t be up to the challenge, as it turns out I was up to the challenge! All of us at Paragon are at different stages, what binds us is that we are all highly motivated to complete whatever Robbie has lined up for us. In April 2013 I did some 121 Personal Training with Robbie and started attending boxercise regularly, and finally I could see the physical change I was hoping for.
Working with Robbie has been very rewarding, he is a highly motivated and encouraging, he has a great knowledge for giving you the very best tools to achieve the very best you! His Boxercise sessions have all the key ingredients to keep you motivated, they’re great fun (as are all the lovely people I’ve met since joining), highly satisfying (especially when partnering with your husband!), are always focused and challenging. I rate Robbie’s classes more than any others I now attend and have tried in the past. The best thing I now have as a result of working with Robbie and his team at Paragon is learning how effective the right cardio/strength interval training can be, how despite your best efforts if you don’t have that bodyshock, your body cleverly adapts and you don’t see those physical results! I am now stronger, leaner and more confident in myself than I have ever been. I attend boxercise 3 times a week, still walk my miles, swim and have now tailored my own kettlebell/body exercise workouts to have that high intensity interval base to be at my very best, I now even have the Gaul to try other classes eg bootcamps realizing group exercise isn’t so scary after all so thank you Robbie”. - Lynsey Woolman
“I started working with Robbie about 4 years ago, I was 39 at the time and although I felt pretty fit at the time was conscious that age was creeping up on me and I would need to work harder if I wanted to continue playing football and enjoying a physical lifestyle. I did not enjoy attending mainstream gyms as I found working out on machines dull and non competitive but found working with Robbie and a team of people with different fitness levels very enjoyable and very rewarding. Meeting up with team several times a week does not feel like a chore, they are my comrades and I have been very lucky to have a made a few good friends along the way even Robbie who at times over the years has really worked me hard.
The results have been excellent for me, I have lost a stone and half in weight which I have maintained over the years but the real difference is inches , 4 inches of my waist , 4 inches of my chest my double chin is no more and my legs are as fit and strong as they were 20 years ago! “Well my situation before finding out that Robbie even existed was quite normal where I would go exercising but eat the same things
weight going up and down like a yoyo, not being happy with myself. Starting at Robbie’s gym was easy, I was very nervous but when I got there he and all the other Ladies and Gents made me feel very welcome, and quite quickly you realise that you’re all there for the same reason, to feel good about yourself and change your eating habits and exercise.
I started with Robbie on a 8 week count down to drop a dress size. The exercise was really hard at the beginning but after a couple of weeks the difference in my bodies fitness was noticeable. After a couple more weeks I did Robbie’s 21 day detox – it was hard but managed it lost 8 pounds, load of inches and my clothes were all fitting or hanging it was amazing.
I’m still working on my weight loss, but Robbie always says its not about weight loss its the inch loss. My eating habits have changed for the better and I love going exercising on Tuesday and Thursday mornings for my Treat to myself and meet my friends its quite a little family all encouraging each other, I love it and really miss it when I cant make it.

I am a busy mother of 3 who used to run and before I started at Paragon found myself doing little exercise and therefore had become overweight from picking at the kids teas.
I have belonged to gyms in the past, all unsuccessfully and I just wanted something convenient and easy for me to commit to. The boxercise sessions work perfectly and the timing is fab. I can drop my kids off, go along and get home and start my day by 1030.
Robbie is lovely, he is enthusiastic and helpful. He makes you feel comfortable.

“After a Christmas full of festive food and booze last year I was very unfit and ready for a fresh start.
My family and I were going skiing in the February half term and I was concerned that I was not fit enough to cope with the strenuous holiday ahead and wanted to enjoy it and keep up with my children and friends.
I knew just who to turn to as I have trained with Robbie in the past and knew if anyone could get me prepared in 6 weeks Robbie could. Robbie offered his help straight away and the hard work began.
I joined Paragon along with a dear friend as I thought it would be easier to go with somebody and she was ready for a change too. However as lovely as it is to train with my friend I should not have worried as all at Paragon gym are friendly and chatty.
My fitness improved and ‘the bench’ was banned! Although always challenging the sessions become a little easier. I train 3 times a week (when all goes to plan) and if I can’t make it Robbie is always understanding and checking when I will be in next…
Robbie was very supportive with my diet giving me alternatives as I am a vegetarian and offering suggestions and advice when needed.
So the holiday came and went and I had a fabulous time and kept up with everyone (not the teenagers down the black runs) and no broken bones!
I have continued training with Robbie at Paragon and although losing weight was not my main goal I have lost weight and inches but more importantly for me I have gained in confidence, fitness and strength. I am proud to say that I can now do full press ups which I never thought I would and have just completed a 5 K colour run with ease.

“Before starting at Paragon I had tried various diets, worked out with personal trainers at high street gyms, tried it on my own, etc. I always set goals but never quite followed through with them. I also have issues with an old knee injury and used that as an excuse to fail over and over again. I joined Paragon a couple of months ago, obese, unfit, fed up and very nervous as I had not exercised for so long. Initially the cost of the programme felt high but I started to see this as an investment in myself and decided to commit to it. I was also very nervous at the prospect of exercising with others, what if I couldn’t follow…Would I look like a fool?
Working with Robbie has been an eye opener, in learning about the right approach to both nutrition and exercise. It has been a personal experience as he tailors a plan that is specific to you, he has also provided exercises options and alternatives that I can follow despite my knee injury.
Overall it has been a positive, encouraging and never dull experience so far. “When I joined the Platinum program as well as being very nervous, shy and anxious I was equally excited at the thought of getting my mojo back. Since losing my mum in 2010 I had put on 2 stone but not only this I had lost my smile both inside and out. Having two lovely children aged 13 & 9 and a great supportive husband I felt I needed to become a happier mum, wife and self. It’s not until now I can see I was suffering with depression and needed some help.
I had no objections with working with Robbie as all I had heard were excellent reports.
My first session was great, everyone was so friendly and supportive, I struggled in places but Robbie’s constant assurance and encouragement got me through. “In 2010 I decided that I would take the first step and join a local gym as I was 36 years old, a smoker and over 23 stone. It took a long time before I took this first step as I was embarrassed by the way I looked and felt quite intimidated by the thought of going into a gym full of super fit people.
“I had seen Robbie around the gym and he always had a smile and a friendly word or two. After a few months (not continuously) of turning up, not really knowing what I was doing and endlessly sitting on an exercise bike, literally going nowhere. “Before I started the Platinum programme with you I felt unfit, unhealthy and was probably mildly depressed. I had met you through the ‘boot camp’ that you had run earlier in the year. When I received news of this new programme you were doing, it outlined all the things that I had been dreaming to achieve but had no clue how to get started. After I had made my commitment to the programme I started having reservations as to whether you would be someone I could work with. My feelings of personal trainers was one that they couldn’t really understand normal people like me, as in not being able to resist that one more glass of wine, or understand the lack of will power when it comes to food. “Before I started working with you I was very hit and miss with exercise and never enjoyed the gym or classes that much. Various diets never worked long time, I couldn’t keep the weight off so got down and gave up. My only reservation about working with you was that I thought I would not be fit enough and would make a fool of myself as I wouldn’t be able to keep up, but that was not the case at all as you made me feel part of the group and never treated me any differently so I felt at home straight away (even though I was lacking you never raised the point or made a fuss) and the way you held the workouts meant it didn’t matter if you weren’t as good as the others because you could just do your best and get on with it. After I’d had my first child back in 2006 I realised that the time had come to finally try and get healthy and lose some weight. I’d always been big, at my biggest I weighed in at just over 15st, I’d lost some but needed to lose my post baby weight and a lot more. Having never stuck at any exercise before I joined the local gym and started aerobics classes and a bit of general gym work. Someone suggested I try out the boxercise class with Robbie as it was good fun and a good workout. I was very nervous and was a bit out of my comfort zone but Robbie has a way of never making you feel uncomfortable about your weight or ability so I carried on going and gradually saw my fitness improve and I lost weight too! Early 2009 I fell pregnant again and carried on doing the classes as much as I could but eventually had to stop. When I’d had my post natal checks I was straight back into the gym and back to Robbie’s boxercise classes, hoping to lose the post baby weight again!
Robbie started a bootcamp and I was (gently!) persuaded to join by a friend at the gym and I decided to give it a go. It was 4 mornings a week (6am!!!) for 6 weeks and it was probably the best thing I’ve ever done and I couldn’t have done it without Robbie’s support. One of the challenges was running just over a mile from the gym and back and I wasn’t convinced I could do it, Robbie told me that I could most definitely do it and I did! He’d seen me at the classes and knew that I just needed that push and I could do anything! Since that first bootcamp I’ve trained with Robbie on an ongoing basis, in both group classes and smaller training sessions and I’ve always felt the need to push myself and give 100%. I’ve also taken up running, which I truly believe stems from that first ‘traffic light run’ at bootcamp! Last year I completed 2 half marathons and am running another half in March, I’m also taking part in ‘The Gauntlet’ a mud race in April with Team Paragon. I also took part in Tough Mudder last year which involved far too much electricity and water but again, I never thought I could have completed something like that without the ongoing support of Robbie.
I’ve gained so much from training with Robbie, I’ve made some great friends, confidence in my abilities has soared but most of all my fitness levels have improved and I’m still losing weight!

“My situation before working with Robbie was that I had become de motivated and “too busy” over a number of years to exercise or care about my diet. Thinking my diet was quite healthy i.e. lots of fruit /veg it was lacking in many nutrients and included many pre packed foods. “Like a lot of people my new year’s resolutions barely lasts to the end of January so I wasn’t pinning much hope for this year either, but started with good intentions, after listening to somebody talking on the radio that her New Year resolutions was to face new challenges rather than finding excuses to back down ,So when a colleague introduced me to the idea of a personal trainer thought that this would be a good start, although daunting. I had put on a lot of weight over recent years, and although talked a lot about doing something about it ,failed miserably at the first chocolate hurdle. I decided to work with Robbie as I wanted a change to my usual exercise routine and I wanted to concentrate on really toning up my body. I wasn’t overweight but what I wanted to do, was firm up the body that I had. Robbie was very approachable, he understood what I wanted to do and I felt very comfortable in his company and working out under his guidance. I didn’t feel self conscious or embarrassed as I knew Robbie wanted me to achieve the best results I possibly could. Normally when I felt that I had had enough I would slow down and stop during a workout but with Robbie’s encouragement he spurred me on much more than I could do by myself. Since joining his program my body has never worked so hard. I considered myself to be fairly fit attending two classes of aerobics a week but working with Robbie has shown me how you need to work all muscle groups intensely to achieve a more toned look. At 60+ with a dodgy back (parachute jump 30yrs ago) stiff left shoulder, overweight and more than feeling my age it was time to do something. I did the detox program with Robbie earlier in the year which worked and the weight stayed off but I was clearly very unfit and still well above my best fighting weight! The gym for me is a bit boring and classes were ok but I feel I need more personal attention and motivation. Someone to keep an eye on what I am doing so I don’t overdo things but with the knowledge to push me just that bit more without causing problems. Working with a small group also
suits me. Robbie’s Platinum program came at the right time. I got to know Robbie through his detox course and felt that another detox plus exercise was well worth a try. A bit expensive but then that would make me do it. Three times a week would need planning and abandoning my man, having been out all day could be a problem. Given the state of my emotional and physical fitness before I met Robbie, I never thought I would be sitting down to write a recommendation as well as a thank you to Robbie for the energy levels I have and the way a feel in myself today. Two years ago I could not walk up the stairs at home without becoming breathless three steps into my office was troublesome, and yet only last Friday I climbed the stairs at

I have been working with Robbie for almost 2 months. While he may seem like a gentle guy when you first meet him, there is nothing gentle about the training he puts you through. I have never been keen on gyms, I rarely kept up a plan for longer than 3 months and only when I had something like a wedding or a holiday to plan for. I thought I was naturally quite fit, but if I did anything like a day of gardening or a long walk or something a bit more active than normal I would know about it the next day. I have never been fat or overweight, but I ALWAYS dieted before a summer holiday and I used to describe myself as soft round the edges. As an example I never bought a dress off the shelf, I always tried it on first to make sure it didn’t show the wobbly bits! I have really enjoyed the variety of our work outs. I’ve worked with you one to one and in Group Personal Training and you always keep me motivated by changing the emphasis, so just when I thought I could do a type of work out you change it and give me a new challenge. I have enjoyed seeing the gradual results of all the hard work. I feel now that because the process has been consistent and gradual it has crept up on me without having to make major or dire changes to my life. Before I knew it I enjoyed working out…. Before joining Paragon I was exercising a couple of times a week doing circuit training and maybe the odd run when the weather was good. I was lacking motivation as I am not the kind of person who could go to the gym and work hard by myself or push myself to the limit. I didn’t have any objections about working with you, found I was actually a bit nervous about coming to a “smaller” gym than I was used to where you can get lost in the crowd a bit, however joining with a friend (Sasha) was a good idea for me and helped me settle in, although I have found everyone to be really friendly and all of the trainers who have taken the classes at different times have also been really friendly and put some fun into the workouts and take time to make you all feel involved and part of the group.
Working with you is fun, I’ve found you to be very professional in the sessions but at the same time very amicable creating a nice atmosphere to be in. It has been a totally new experience to me as there is more 1:1 involvement as we work in smaller teams and get individual time with you and the other instructors which helps my motivation and desire to keep working hard during each session. My motivation and positive attitude to exercise has increased and I feel a lot better about myself and how much I am capable of. My fitness and strength has greatly increased and I feel more toned than I ever have done.

Robbie has totally transformed the way I have exercised. I wanted to loose weight but it was more than that. I wanted to prove to myself that I could really train hard and get fit and Robbie got that straight away. He introduced me to boxing and from there my love of boxing took off! A year before I met Robbie I had my son Felix, as a new mum looking after a baby, exercise took a back seat. With the turn of the year and my impending return to work I decided it was about time to get back to fitness and lose some, but hopefully all, of the baby weight. At the start of the year I wasn’t far off 11stone, lacking in self esteem and easily got out of breath. I signed up for Robbie’s bootcamp which I found by searching for local events in my area, a friend in the North east had been doing something similar and it seemed a good method to challenge myself back into fitness. After bootcamp having lost 4lbs and 24.5cm I wanted to ensure that my journey continued and therefore asked Robbie about his personal training packages. I signed up straight away and have been training with Robbie ever since. When Robbie initiated a nutritional detox class with promising results for fat loss – I signed up and after completing the 3 weeks lost another 10lbs and 20cms. I am now in training for the Great North Run and have completed two 10k races along the way, I feel slimmer, healthier and overall happier as an individual. Working with Robbie has been great and I would even say I look forward to our sessions. I always know he will push me to improve and challenge my own targets. Robbie always plans a varied routine and it is different every time which keeps the sessions interesting, he uses a large range of equipment and techniques which again keeps you on your toes! Robbie has been a great support not only in the workouts but outside of this as well, providing training plans I can complete at home and always being available (by phone/email/text) if I have any questions.
I love that Robbie not only focusses on fitness but also the nutritional side and is always adapting his classes and programmes based on previous feedback. He is always enthusiastic in his communications which helps to motivate and all in all he is a really nice personable guy, who is easy to get on with, full of knowledge and makes things fun but equally challenging!
My immediate response when asked what would be my best thing I’ve achieved from working with Robbie would be to say that I have lost weight – isn’t that what all women would say? But having reflected I would say just generally that I am ‘Happier’. Like a lot of people my new year’s resolutions barely lasts to the end of January so I wasn’t pinning much hope for this year either, but started with good intentions, after listening to somebody talking on the radio that her New Year resolutions was to face new challenges rather than finding excuses to back down ,So when a colleague introduced me to the idea of a personal trainer thought that this would be a good start, although daunting. I had put on a lot of weight over recent years, and although talked a lot about doing something about it ,failed miserably at the first chocolate hurdle. I heard about the people training with Robbie but I always thought there was no way I could even try! When I first met Robbie, which is now some 5 plus years ago. I was in my mid forties. Presuming with my age and occasional training I would slide into and be content at being the size 12/14 I was becoming and just blamed tiredness and fatigue on my age.
I started boxing with Robbie and found a new lease of life, an exercise that was truly fun and started showing great results. (Also an exercise I never thought I would be able to do). The new feeling of fitness then took my confidence to enter the bootcamps. The results from these were amazing, a struggle to get up at 5.30am occasionally, but once i was there it was so enjoyable you just knew you had to keep it up.
